Sheldon Allman
Sing Along With Drac

$12.98

Back in 1960, Sheldon Allman was just starting out as an actor and performer. He was kicking around an idea he had to record an album of famous songs as sung by "Dracula and Friends". He brought an album that he called SING ALONG WITH DRAC, into the Del-Fi offices to play for Bob Keane. Bob thought it was hilarious. Even though the songs were not "rock n' roll," so to speak, they were all based on well-known standards which were still popular in the late 50's and early 60's. For example, "Fangs for the Memory" was based on "Thanks for the Memory", which you've no doubt heard Bob Hope sing millions of times. "This Can't Be Blood" was a version of the standard "This Can't Be Love." "I Don't Stand A Chance With A Ghost Like You" was originally "I Don't Stand A Ghost Of A Chance With You." "Don't Maim Me" was the song "Don't Blame Me." "These Ghoulish Things Behind Me Are You" was "These Foolish Things Remind Me Of You." You get the idea. All the songs are sung as though Dracula himself - or Bela Lugosi - were doing the vocals, and a few with the voice of Peter Lorre.

Sheldon went on to write many TV theme songs including the one for Let's Make A Deal and the infamous George Of The Jungle.
